Takin' cARO Business!
Want to be an ARO Counselor?! 

Date: May 11-17, 2008
Place: McAllen and Corpus Christi, TX
Scheduled Events: Mentor 8th graders, shadow them to their classes, go to local 
area businesses, and encourage them to go to college!

WHAT IS ARO?

 

Aggies Reaching Out (ARO) is a program sponsored by the Memorial Student Center at Texas A&M University. Undergraduate Aggies mentor underrepresented 8th graders from Corpus Christi and McAllen during a week-long trip every May.  Each school provides approximately forty 8th grade ARO participants. Throughout the week, the Aggies shadow the 8th graders in their classes, facilitate leadership and team-building activities, bring the students on field trips to local business sites, and host several receptions and ceremonies.  The goal for the ARO trip is to promote the value of higher education and impart leadership skills to these students.
